If you call and don't here back right away it is
because I am now teaching at the Beaver Island
Lighthouse School and do not have regular service. If
you are reading this then the best thing to do is send
me an email, I check it at least once a day.

Well spring is slow in coming once again. As the lakes and
marshes begin to thaw out we can find ourselves getting in the
nastiest stuck situations of the year. Slush and mud are very
heavy and can really test the limits of a machine. After you go
through and need maximum power is no time to find out that
you have a bad belt or a non-functioning winch. Testing your
winch and checking your belt are the best ways to make sure
you drive home rather than walk. Do you have a spare belt?
What kind of shape is it in? Is your tow strap under the seat
where you left it? Did it get wet and freeze? Do you have a
board to put down the hole in the ice to pull your self out? Did
you know that even a tracked unit with ice cleats will not climb
out of a hole in the ice (unless you get real lucky) you will be
stuck with no way out unless you have the means to anchor
your cable.
Any questions????? Shoot me an email.
